Hard On Yourself - Charlie Puth ft. Blackbear
"Hard on Yourself" marks the first collaboration between pop artists Charlie Puth and blackbear. The song’s lyrics cement it as a positive anthem addressing insecurity and natural beauty.
Released on 14th August 2020, the track was produced by Puth and written by him and Blackbear. It may be added in his upcoming third album, along with his new single, "Girlfriend".
Initially intended as a solo track, blackbear provided his input after commenting on Charlie’s original snippet on Instagram. Puth first revealed they were working together in a tweet on August 1, 2020, and later shared the release date and cover art on August 12, 2020, just two days before release.

Charlie Puth posted and later deleted a first peak of the song on Instagram on July 10, 2020 with the caption:
"A message to myself. I made this today…"
Blackbear commented on Charlie’s posts asking to write a verse on it. Charlie confirmed the song would be a collaboration on August 1, 2020, when he tweeted:
"blackbear and I are working on that song and it sounds so GOOD"
On August 8, 2020, Charlie posted another song snippet with more production and slightly different lyrics. Then August 11, 2020 he posted another snippet revealing new lyrics from blackbear. The day after, he revealed the release date and cover art.
